DEWI-Offshore and Certification Centre GmbH (DEWI-OCC) was founded in 2003 as a subsidiary of the German Wind Energy Institute (DEWI). DEWI-OCC is a generally accepted certification body for on- and offshore wind turbines and their components, accredited by the DAP (Deutsches Akkreditierungssystem Prüfwesen). In the field of wind energy DEWI-OCC carries out certifications as well as expertises – also on behalf of government authorities – , type approvals, examinations, periodic inspections, risk- and damage analysis etc. DEWI-OCC participates in several research projects, is actively involved in the development of standards and sets high value on permanent education of the staff. In Cuxhaven (North Germany) DEWI-OCC operates a test site for four offshore prototypes. The DEWI-OCC test site directly behind the sea dike will be a first step for the offshore basis Cuxhaven. On this test site the technical reliability and efficiency of a new generation of multi megawatt wind turbines will be tested under maritime climate conditions at the North Sea coast.

Participant’s role:

DEWI OCC will play a key role in the Assessment of Certification and be involved together with the UNMO and Meteo BiH in the information on the local wind systems as well as in building of codes and related standards of wind energy in the region.
