The Croatian company Adria Wind Power was established in 1999. The company built the first wind park in Croatia in 2004, rated at 5.950 kilowatts at the Ravne site on the island of Pag. The experience gained in the operation of the wind turbines indicates the difficulties of operating wind turbines in complex terrain under in specific local wind conditions.
Participant’s role and resource management
With the instalment of a wind turbine in a complex relief terrain which is located on island Pag and under influence of the “Bora/Bura” and “Scirocco/Jugo” Adria Wind Power is able to provide the project with operational measurement data for a comparison with other sites in complex relief. The company will cooperate with Energiewerkstatt EWS, DEWI and Vjetroenergetika for the evaluation of data and the dissemination of the results. Comparisons could also be made with the existing operational data from the Ravne 1 wind park.
So far, the coastal area of the Adriatic Sea with its total length of almost 1.800 km has been the main focus for the wind park project developers. The knowledge and experience accumulated as a result of the research project will represent a basic platform for information sharing and cost effective planning.
